Quick Guide to Staircases
Stairways can be defined as one of 4 basic types:
- Straight
- Flat Curve
- Short radius spiral
- Large radius spiral
Straight
The simplest stairway and the most common. A straight stairway maintains a constant slope and does not curve or change directions.
Flat curve
The flat curve stairway typically has two straight sections joined by a flat landing. The stairway walls tend to be flat.
Short radius spiral
The short radius stairway typically has two straight sections joined by a sloped landing (pie-shaped steps). The stairway walls tend to be flat.
Large radius spiral
A large spiral stairway may have a straight section but can, in some very elaborate spirals, have no staight sections. The stairway walls are usually curved. Complete spiral stairways with no straight sections are considered large radius spirals.

Electra-Ride III
- The new offset swivel seat makes the entry and exit position at the top landing safer and easier than ever!
- The footrest and carriage safety sensors safely stop you, even if the sligtest obstacle is in the way while you ride!
- Rail Option: The CRE-2110 can be equipped with an optional top or bottom park to facilitate an exit and remove the unit from the stairs.
- The two wireless call/send controls make installation simple and clean with no wires running along the wall.
Flow II
Key features: Tube-style rail for straight, curved or spiral stairs; stair angles from -70° to 70°
